| The Guild holds an annual Show and Sale the first weekend in October. The most recent show, "Kodiak in Stitches", was held at the Gerald C. Wilson Auditorium, showcasing over 75 quilts created by Guild members. "STORMY NIGHTS COZY QUILTS" will be the theme of our 2008 Quilt Show! Norma Dutt has once again graciously volunteered to prepare the advertising poster. More news will be posted as soon as details are known. Past themes have included "Bountiful Harvest", "Nine Lives Of A Quilt", "20,000 Stitches By The Sea", "Bears and Quilts", "Catch the Y2K Quilt Bug, "Gone to Pieces" and Threads in Time." Each of these shows will be linked to a page showcasing the display of quilts for each show, back to 2000.
During each show, visitors and members are asked to judge the quilts in three broad categories: Best in Show, Best Large Quilt, Best Small Quilt. Members also vote using these categories, with the addition of the coveted category, Members' Choice. This is the quilt judged by Guild members to exhibit superlative qualities of quilt making. Award winners receive a lovely ribbon and a cash prize for their achievements.
A part of each year's Show and Sale includes the sale of raffle tickets for a quilt made by a Guild member whose quilt was honored two years ago with the award of "best in show". Raffle tickets may be purchased by anyone interested in supporting the Guild, and are normally available for sale from Guild members beginning in September.Proceeds are used for service quilts, teachers, programs, and other operating expenses of the Guild. The quilt show is the only fund raiser of the Guild, so all guild members are asked to make and donate a small quilt (30" x 30" or smaller) for the silent auction that occurs during the show. Members who want to display quilts in the show are asked to offer at least one quilt for sale as the Guild makes a commission on quilts sold.
