and What it Will Mean to You


Robin Bronen of the Alaska Immigration Justice Project will update us on pending
legislation under the Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act of 2006, and what impact it
may have for criminal defense attorneys. Robin will also update us on the immigration
consequences the criminal defense attorney should be aware of for non-citizen clients.

Topic: Clients and Witnesses in Custody

This Month we will be discussing issues that affect our clients in custody. One important issue that is being litigated in other districts is government access to monitored attorney- clients phone calls from clients in custody.

The second part of this month's meeting will involve the local process of subpoenaing witnesses who are in custody, and for payment of witnesses travel and expenses for those who aren't incarcerated
