Effects of increased urbanization along Chena Slough are contributing to accelerated degradation of one of the most popular Arctic grayling fisheries in Interior Alaska. The Chena Slough Technical Committee implemented a three phase restoration approach consisting of 1) assessment/reestablishment of fish passage, 2)stream channel and road-crossing restoration, and 3) evaluation of restoration success.

Public and private landowners across the Fairbanks Soil and Water Conservation District are concerned with invasive plant infestations, commonly known as weeds. These infestations reduce the biological, agricultural, recreational, and economic value of the land, decrease native plant populations, and degrade ecosystems. For management efforts to be successful, a broadscale, coordinated and systematically integrated approach to managing these invasive plants is necessary.<Read More>
