Sportfishing
trips on the Uganik River are based at our main camp in
the east arm of Uganik Bay.
These trips
begin with a half hour bush plane flight from Kodiak to
our camp on Monday morning and end with a return flight
on Saturday. Most
fishing is done in the river, although we do a limited
amount of salt water fishing from open boats, depending
upon the client's specific interest.
There
is a variety of species in this river system, including
Sockeye, Pink, Chum, and Silver Salmon. Dolly Varden,
Arctic Char are in abundance during most of the summer
and fall. A good number of resident Rainbow are also present.
The
maximum number of clients at this camp is six.
We prefer 4 -6 clients to come as a group, but we can
accommodate singles.
Both
lure and fly fishing is acceptable on this river, but
not bait fishing. We permit clients to take home one day's
bag limit of fish, in addition to the fish that we eat
while in the camp.
The
best time to fish for Silvers, at this location, is during
September. We
also offer trips on Little River
for fly fishing.
