Dick Rohrer was born on 1943 and spend his first 21 years on his father's farm in Pennsylvania. He first came to Alaska in 1965, and found it was only natural to get involved in the guiding industry.
He moved to Kodiak in 1969 and received an Assistant Guide license. In 1976 he obtained his Registered Guide license, followed by his Master Guide-Outfitter license in 1989.

Married to Sue Rohrer, they have four children.
