The Coastal Forests and Mountains Ecoregion
in the Tongass National Forest and Southeast Alaska

BIOGEOGRAPHIC PROVINCES

This assessment recognizes the conservation implications of the insularity of southeast Alaska. In development of a regional conservation strategy, we have developed a framework built upon robust conservation measures among each of 21 biogeographic provinces. This section provides a brief introduction to unique ecological attributes and management implications for each of these provinces.
