The Alaska Journal The Alaska Journal: History and Arts of the North - Quarterly For sale is this 5 volume set for the years 1971 through 1980. This collection is the core of this great work. After 1980 the journal was discontinued. In 1981 a hardbound single special issue replaced the quarterly. After that more issues of the quarterly came out but they contained a lot of reprint material instead of new scholarly articles. In 1986 there was a final single hardbound volume issued. Published by R.N. DeArmond & the Alaska Northwest Publishing Company 8 1/2 inches by 11 inches tall, all 40 issues for 1971 through 1980. This set is XLIB, although the spines are not marked as such. There is a rubber stamp "stacks" in red ink inside the front cover and "Multnomah County Library" stamped on the top edges. They were deaccessioned through a University of Oregon Library sale. Each journal cover has a "received" stamp. Very nice set. I own a similar set and refer to it often. There were two indexes published for this journal that are of limited use. There was also a comprehensive index created but it was never published. I use a xerox copy of the latter for my own research. I have an unbound set that I use for photocopying articles, and a bound set like this one that I prefer for general research. No Alaska history buff or art collector should be without this valuable work! We also have most issues available as single issues. $350 plus $15.00 postage & packing & insurance (international orders extra) for this set. To order this item email dick@AlaskaWanted.com |
