Eagle Alaska Dance Card

Fantastic Eagle Alaska postcard! I've never seen an early Alaska postcard that was turned into a dance card, and mailed locally with the unbelievable address:

"Miss Adams, Table 4, Couple 1".

Postmarked April 20, 1905 in Eagle Alaska. Note the lines very neatly hand drawn for the men to write their names to reserve dances. The title of the postcard is "Eagle Bluff, Eagle Alaska, river closing". Condition: good, corner wear, and a slight bend near the postmark. [shelf locator: Ephemera Notebook: Yukon River -Eagle]  $250  plus $5.00 postage & packing & insurance (international orders extra). for info email dick@AlaskaWanted.com

The Calder & Tokeen marble quarry.
We have a very large collection of rare Calder & Tokeen marble quarry "real photo postcards"(and photographs), Prince of Wales Island, Southeast Alaska, for sale. These postcards and photographs were owned by the owners of the quarry. They show all aspects of the marble quarrying operation, from the mining operation to the boats that took the marble blocks away from the island. Many of them carry the rare postmarks from that location, and annotations by the Vermont owners. One postcard of a crane collapse has an X on the front and says "this is where Joe was standing when the crane collapsed". We don't know his fate. Another shows a man and a boy attempting to play golf at the camp, and they are dressed in golfing duds! I find this marble mine more interesting than any Alaska gold mine. We would prefer to keep them together as a collection because of their historical importance. The price of this collection is $7500.00   for info email dick@AlaskaWanted.com
