M.V.Gavia

Alaska Bareboat Adventures is pleased to provide the M.V.Gavia for bareboat charters. The M.V. Gavia, a Tradewinds 33, is virtually identical to the Albin 33. Powered by a 120 hp Ford-Lehman diesel, she makes 8 knots and uses 2 - 3 gph of fuel. She is a traditional, and very comfortable, "tri-cabin trawler" ideal for cruising the waters of Southeast Alaska. She has a salon / helm area above the engine room with a settee that converts to a double bunk. The forward cabin has two single bunks, a head with shower and a hanging locker. The aft-cabin has two bunks, one single and one 'friendly double', and a head with a shower. Interior heat is provided by an Espar diesel forced air furnace.

The galley in the salon area consists of a four burner propane stove, 12v refrigerator, sink, dishes, cutlery, and pots and pans. The freshwater system is pressure hot and cold. Shorepower can be used when available. Galley and bath towells are supplied as are staples, condiments, and paper products. The flybridge is equipped with a propane barbecue and a large burner for boiling crab and shrimp.

Gavia has two helms, one in the salon and one on the flying bridge. Electronics consist of two VHF radios, Furuno color video depth sounder, Raytheon radar and loran, Garmin GPS, and an am/fm cassette. Other navigation equipment and supplies include two compasses, Coast Pilot, Light List, various nautical charts and tide tables. Steering is hydraulic and includes a WH autopilot. All required safety equipment is aboard. Ground tackle consists of a danforth with 200 feet of chain. There is an additional 175 feet of 1/2" nylon rode with a spare danforth. An inflatable dinghy with a small outboard is supplied with the vessel. It is recommended that charters supply their own fishing gear. However, two downriggers are supplied, along with a crabpot, shrimppot, and other miscellaneous fishing gear.
