MEMORANDUM FOR CAP/AK WING SQUADRONS
FROM: CC
SUBJECT: Policy Letter No. 13
Alaska Wing Mission Brief Policy
1. This memorandum is to state the Wing policy regarding the requirement for permission briefings whether for SAREX of actual. It has always been the expressed concern of Wing Safety, National Headquarters, and the USAF, that aircrews receive an adequate pre-mission briefing. This has been practiced in the past voluntarily without expressed written direction. However, due to the complexity of CAP’s new missions and the increase of low experience crews, the morning brief has been necessitated.
2. It is the policy of this Wing that no aircrew may be released without a pre-mission briefing that includes, but is not limited to, safety, expected and actual weather in the mission airspace, airfield conditions at the airfields of use, radio frequency(s) to be used, mission objectives, and alternate operational considerations.
3. It is the responsibility of the squadron commanders, designated mission/incident commander, or specified individual, to insure that all participants in either practice exercises or actual missions are in attendance. The schedule for said briefings will be at the discretion of the mission authority, but must be provided to permit the attendance of all crews. Ground personnel must attend the first scheduled briefing relevant to the individual mission.
4. There shall be no deviation form this policy without the prior written permission of the Wing Commander.
