MEMORANDUM FOR CAP/AK WING SQUADRONS
FROM: CC
SUBJECT: Policy Letter No. 14
Alaska Wing Aircraft Utilization Policy
1. This memorandum is to state the Wing policy regarding the use of both corporate aircraft and member owned/furnished by members of the Alaska wing. By definition;
(IAW CAPR 60-1) a. CAP Aircraft. Any aircraft (either member owned/furnished or CAP corporate) used in a CAP flight activity.
2. The utilization of member owned aircraft is permitted practice. However, it has never been acceptable to use a member owned aircraft when a Corporate owned aircraft was available to perform the mission or tasking. Aircraft utilization is the basis for aircraft assignment to each squadron as well as overall allocation to the Alaska Wing.
3. It is the policy of this Wing that no member owned/furnished aircraft will be utilized to complete a mission/tasking when a corporate asset and qualified crew are available to the tasked squadron (when a corporate aircraft is available and the squadron tasked to the mission does not have a qualified PIC, the mission/tasking will be passed to another squadron with a qualified PIC to carry out the mission/tasking).
4. Departure from this policy may result in denial of reimbursement for mission related expenses, i.e. fuel, oil, etc.
5. There shall be no deviation from this policy without the prior written permission of the Wing Commander.
