1. This memorandum is to state the Wing policy regarding aircraft operations during winter-cold temperatures. In the interests of operational safety, and the preservation of aircraft airframes and power plants, the Wing has established the following limitations in regards to the limits of operations during sub-zero temperatures.
2. It is the policy of this Wing that no aircraft will be operated below the following limitations:
a.Training Flight ► - 0o F to -10°F (Limit one take off and landing per flight at the above temperatures), (if an inversion exists at altitude above 0°F,normal take off and landing can be conducted, “but” cold shocking the engine must be avoided).
b. Disaster Relief/Counter Drug and Homeland Security flights ► - 10o F
c. Non-distress Search flights (i.e: errant ELT) ► - 20º F
d. Actual SAR mission involving a known life and death situation ► - 30°F
“Life and Death" missions are approved on a case-by-case basis below
by the AkwgCC/AkwgCV. ► - 30 ºF & below.
3. There shall be no deviation from this policy without the prior permission of the Wing Commander.
