Rollerski
, classic race information Wednesday September 13 at Kincaid Park
The
women’s/girls race is scheduled to start at 6:00pm. The men’s race is
scheduled to follow the end of the women’s race, probably starting about 6:30pm.
Helmets are required. Anyone under 18 must have written parental
permission to race. Race registration will be taken at the Kincaid
Outdoor Center front desk, starting at 5:30pm on the day of event. Entry
fee is $20 per person. The format will be classic technique with wave
starts. The probable starting configuration will be waves of 4
competitors starting every 30 seconds.
We are
attempting to make registration forms available, online, starting Monday
September 11 or Tuesday September 12. This will make it easier to get
parental permission signatures on the registration forms, ahead of time, to
make the day of event registration process easier for everyone. Just go
to www.muni.org/parks and click on the link for the “Activity
Guide”. Within the Activity Guide, there is a generic registration form
which has a place for a parents signature allowing their son(s) or daughter(s)
to compete. Bring the completed and signed registration form to the front
desk at Kincaid Outdoor Center after 5:30pm on the day of the event.
Results will be
organized in the following categories:
Racing – Men (20-29), Women (19-29), Junior Male (13-19), Junior Female
(13-19), Master Male (30+), and Master Female (30+).
Training – Men (20-29), Women (19-29), Junior Male (13-19), Junior Female
(13-19), Master Male (30+), and Master Female (30+).
The “Racing”
divisions will be using faster, racing model rollerskis. The “Training”
divisions will be using slower, training model rollerskis, and other
types of human-powered rolling devices worn similarly to rollerskis (e.g.
crosskates, rollerblades, newly developed gear like clapskates, etc.). The
“Honor System”
will be used to ensure the accuracy of sign up in the appropriate division and
legitimacy of information given on registration forms.
The men’s course
= 12K (two laps); womens’, master females’, and junior females’ course = 6K
(one lap); master males’ and junior males’ course = an 8K (one and one third
laps). The start is located in the parking lot at the top of the Coastal
Trail. The eastern most turn around point for all first laps, is across
from the entrance road to Little Campbell Lake.
This race should
be as much fun to watch as it will be to take part in, so please spread the
word, and please bring your cowbell to cheer on the competitors. There
will be many other things to do after the race, too. The climbing wall
will be available (weather permitting), at no charge. There will be
obstacle courses for the kids, games, and lots of live music, both during
and after the race. Come help us inaugurate the newly completed multi-use
trail which parallels the entrance road and provides a safe and scenic link
between the end of the Coastal Trail and the multi-use trail along Raspberry
Road.
