HAYSTACK TRAIL

This trail is located at mile 18.8 on the Copper River Highway. The trail is .8 miles long. The Recommended season is Spring, Summer, and Fall. This trail is used moderately, and it's very easy.

This easy-going trail offers a short hike winding through a lush spruce-hemlock forest that gradually climbs to the top of a knoll overlooking the Copper River delta. From this spectacular vantage point, one may view trumpeter swans, moose and other animals on the delta as well as the Gulf of Alaska and Kayak island in the distance.

This is a good trail for a short family outing with a nice bench and picnic location at the overlook.
