PIPELINE LAKES TRAIL

You can get to this trail via the Copper River Highway at milepost 21.4. This trail is 1.8, you can travel this trail all year round. The trail isn't used very much, and the difficulty is moderate.

The first 3/4 miles of trail passes through a dense spruce-hemlock forest before opening up into muskeg meadows. Numerous small, picturesque lakes may be seen from these openings in addition to impressive views of the Chugach Mountains to the north. At the junction with the McKinley Lake trail, you have the option of returning to the highway via the McKinley Lake trail or to continue north on this trail to the McKinley Lake recreation cabin.

Several of the lakes have been stalked with grayling. Fishing for cutthroat trout is also available as well as excellent blueberry picking on this trail.
