              1 EGG                                                   1/2 CUP ORANGE JUICE
    2 Tbsp GRATED ORANGE RIND                  2 C. FLOUR      
1/2 tsp BAKING POWDER                      1/2   tsp SODA   
  1/2 tsp SALT

HEAT OVEN TO 400 º.
 MIX SHORTENING, SUGAR, EGG THOROUGHLY. STIR IN ORANGE JUICE AND RIND.
MIX FLOUR, BAKING POWDER SODA AND SALT IN A SEPARATE BOWL.
ADD TO MIXTURE. BLEND   WELL.
DROP ROUNDED TEASPOONS OF DOUGH ABOUT 2” APART ON UNGREASED BAKING SHEET.
BAKE 8 to 10 MIN., OR UNTIL DELICATELY BROWNED ON EDGES.

FROST WITH BUTTER CREAM ICING WHILE WARM.

ORANGE BUTTER CREAM ICING 
                            2 ½ Tbsp   SOFT BUTTER             1½ CUPS   CONFECTIONERS SUGAR 
   1 ½ ORANGE JUICE                2 tsp. ORANGE RIND
