ALASKA USA WRESTLING CLUBS OR INDEPENDENT WRESTLERS: Updated information regarding the Alaska USA Wrestling State Freestyle, Girl’s and Greco Roman Tournament to be held May 9-10, 2008 at the Wasilla Multi Use Sports Complex. Please review the new state tournament registration packet which is linked above. Please read the information carefully and make sure your club members also get the information. Clubs and independent wrestlers MUST turn in their participants registration forms per the attached registration procedure instructions by the registration deadline. Wrestlers will not be allowed to weigh-in unless we have their form in hand. The changes made to the registration and information packet were the registration procedure and alternate weigh-in location for Thursday, May 8 only. WE NEED YOUR CLUB /INDEPENDENT WRESTLER NAMES FOR STATE T-SHIRTS: Club coordinators or individuals please send (e-mail, Excel spreadsheet, Word document) your team roster with or without coaches to Teri Hendricks at thendricks@alaskatia.org no later than April 25. Please send your club name (if applicable) and first and last names in alpha order by last name to go on the back of the shirts. If you are not sure who will be participating in the state tourney, you can send your entire team roster. Please meet this deadline - thanks! ALTERNATE WEIGH-IN LOCATION – THURSDAY, MAY 8 ONLY Participants wrestling on Friday, May 9 (Pre-Bantam and Bantam freestyle, Greco Roman and Girl’s Tournaments) will have the option of weighing-in at Anchorage Christian School from 5:30 – 8:30 pm. The Wasilla Sports Complex weigh-in time on Thursday is now 5:30 -10:00 pm. Greco Roman or Girl’s tournament participants also wrestling freestyle on Saturday may also weigh in Thursday for that tournament. Friday weigh-in times have not changed and participants only wrestling freestyle on Saturday must weigh-in on Friday (no Thursday weigh-ins). GIRL’S STATE FREESTYLE TOURNAMENT Please note that female wrestlers (midget-open) may wrestle in both the Girl’s State Freestyle tournament and Greco Roman Tournament on Friday and the State Freestyle tournament held on Saturday. Each tournament is a separate tournament and they can wrestle one or both and will need to pay an entry fee for each tournament they are wrestling in. If a female wrestler is participating in both the Girl’s tournament and the Greco Roman tournament (to be run simultaneously) on Friday, matches will not be held do to a wrestler wrestling in both tournaments as they are separate tournaments. What this means is a wrestler may be wrestling a Greco Match and be required to directly report to a mat for the Female Freestyle tournament. The wrestlers 15 minute break between matches only applies to the tournament they are in, there is not cross over on the 15 minutes between tournaments. The 15 minutes for the freestyle only cover’s the freestyle tournament and the 15 minutes for the Greco on covers the Greco tournament. You can then select the tournament you wish to register for and then click the enter button on the lower right side of the screen.
