Kodiak Bear Paw Quilters

2002 Annual Show & Sale
The Kodiak Bear Paw Quilters Guild held its 9th annual Quilt Show and Sale on October 5-6, 2002 in the Kodiak High School Commons.
Thank you to guild members for the work you did to make this year's show a success - from making quilts, to selling raffle tickets, to taking your turn working the show. A special thanks to Show Chair Chris Lynch for all your hard work.
Some of the quilts entered in 2002 are shown below. We hope you enjoy them and are inspired to get stitching!

"Big Blanket Toss" by Kelly Lee - This quilt was made by Kelly Lee and Molly Cassidy as a surprise for Peggy Smith from Peggy's husband. The quilt has a fun Alaskan theme made with mostly Bali fabrics. Machine pieced and quilted. 99" square.
"Granny Squares" by Kay Anderson - 1,980 two-inch squares make up this delightful old time granny scrap quilt. Machine pieced and quilted. 83" X 104"

"Blooming Nine Patch" by Stephanie Beyer - This queen size "Blooming Nine Patch" with blues and yellows blooming out to purple will cheer up any place. Machine pieced and quilted. 90" X 106".
"Patch to Nana's House" by Kelly Lee - Nana's Garden is done in brights, peach and green fabric perfect for a garden. 80"x 104". Machine pieced and quilted.

"My Flower Garden" by Chris Lynch - This color wash log cabin has all Chris's favorite fabrics piecing in to her second favorite pastime - gardening, even the back has big flower blocks. Machine pieced and quilted. 76" x 95.
"Fire and Ice" by Chris Lynch - By strategically placing colors, this Hunter's Star block turns in to a colorful marvel. Machine pieced and quilted. 90" x 110".

"Hearts of Joy"

"Fall Colors Everywhere" by Peggy Weston - Now it is time for cooler weather and thoughts of TV nights snuggled up under a cozy quilt. Machine pieced by Peg and machine quilted by Kelly Lee. 52"x 52".
"Container Garden" by Kay Anderson - This appliqué is all machine quilted and pieced - Every single pot of fresh, cheerful posies. 46" square.
"Falling Leaves"
by Kelly Lee - Kelly has created tessellating leaves in scrappy fall colors imitating a maple leaf pattern. 97" X 97", Machine pieced and quilted.
"Floral Pleasures" by Kelly Lee - Kelly made this Many Trips Around the World quilt with nine floral fabrics. This quilt is made with 100% cotton fabrics and batting. 91" X 113". Machine pieced and quilted.
"Nature's Gone Whacky" by Chris Lynch - The Stack-n-Whack method made fun of this fabric. Notice the border fabric is what the blocks are made from. Machine pieced and quilted. 53" x 62".
"Snail's Trails" by Connee DeWolfe - This is a fun inter-connecting puzzle. You can see different designs or patterns as you look. Connee used 20 pieces per square and over 320 pieces overall. Machine pieced and quilted. 24" square.
"Stars Bright" by Norma Dutt - Norma has created a beautiful scrappy star quilt. Machine pieced and quilted. 60" X 77".
"Yerker Mens" by Jenny Stevens - A late graduation quilt for Noah Hill. As a little boy, Noah was fascinated by construction activity and talked about the "yerker mens" who ran the heavy equipment. (He couldn't say the "w" in worker.) A log cabin quilt with a heavy equipment novelty print on the back celebrates Noah's chosen career as a "yerker man" who loves to move the dirt around. Machine pieced and hand quilted. 62" x 86".
"Country Home Quilt"
by Norma Dutt - A combination of scrappy nine patches and a striping overall pattern, this quilt is embellished with a center appliqué in a folk art motif. The back is made up of large print squares. Machine pieced and quilted. 83"x 98".
