About Bristol Bay Outfitters I am a registered professional guide and have been guiding in Alaska for over 20 years. I have been hunting in Alaska for 30 years and have hunted around the world. My 28 years of Alaskan flying experience has enabled me to log over 9,000 hours. In the off season, I am a commercial fisherman and set-net for red salmon with my family in Bristol Bay. I am not a high volume outfitter, taking only a select few hunters for each species each year to ensure the greatest opportunity for success for each hunter. I usually employ two to three assistant guides each year for the Brooks Range, which allows me to check on the camps with the Super Cub, hauling meat and trophies, as well as the client, out early if they desire. Under the US Fish and Wildlife permit system, I limit myself to no more than eight sheep, eight grizzly, and six moose hunts per season. These limited numbers give my clients the best chance for a successful, exciting wilderness experience. In Bristol Bay, I am limited to four brown bear/caribou clients per season in my exclusive area of the Togiak National Wildlife Refuge. We have been close to 100% successful in the past five years. I leave my airplane behind in the fall because this is amphib-float plane country and we utilize the numerous and large lake and river systems. The Wood-Tikchik State Park is non-exclusive because it is state land, but has excellent populations of caribou, moose and brown bear. I use a few of my older camps in this area in conjunction with a fellow guide/outfitter. If a client really wants to get some world-class fishing in during their hunt, then a float hunt in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge or the Togiak National Wildlife Refuge would be an excellent choice.
