DOG RESCUE EFFORTS ON JALTEMBA BAY
I am building this page for my friend Lin Chimes. I will not try to get too "cute" with color here. You will note the fine home of Lin and Jim in the background of these photos and Lin's skilled use of color. It is not hard to guess that Lin and Jim are lively and fun folk.

Lin's Photos and Text:
Yes, this is the all famous Gringo who is a very rare Powder Puff Xoloitzcuintle. Gringo was driven away by his jealous father upon reaching 'manhood' and cried outside my gate for three days and nights until he found a way in. I was at first afraid of him! He left after three days much to my relief. However, a few hours later, I heard terrible cries nearby. When I followed this sad sound, I found Gringo, being attacked (remember, he has little protection as he has almost no teeth nor hair...same gene) and bitten all over. I called him and he immediately came with me. I spent most of the night with him as he was bleeding badly and was in shock. The rest is history as he is still with me. He probably is the most photographed dog in Los Ayala!!! And yes, he does happily pose for pictures.
Gringo! the Mexican Hairless
Since about 1999, I have been rescuing dogs on a small scale... maybe 20 dogs in this time. It is becoming difficult to manage alone. Bucerias and Puerto Vallarta have a very active group regarding animal rescue and I am hoping we can organize something similar here on Jaltemba Bay. We need temporary foster homes and also some donations for vaccinations, parasites, spaying and neutering. I can only accommodate so many dogs on my property especially with guests here....right now I have 5 dogs that are living with me....all found abandoned or dying and all had health problems initially.
Lady and Bambina
Lady was rescued in Canada and is an import. Bambina, who grins, was found dying on the beach. Both are healthy now and have been spayed.
Dulce was full of parasites and had malnutrition. Injections for parasites & good food brought her to life. I managed to find a wonderful home for her in Canada. ($75.00 for a plane ticket, $50.00 for a carrier, Vet bills etc. amounted to about $200.00 USD. She is now very healthy and very much loved.
Dumbo (and yes, he lived up to his name) followed some hikers back from Punta Raza and was taken by a family in Los Ayala. After a mordida was paid, he was released and driven back to his family.
Flacco, a starving street dog, was getting weaker and sadder daily. Since I already had so many dogs, I fed him outside, on the street and on the beach. He was very leery and afraid as a result of so much abuse. We went away for two weeks and during that time he was hit by a car which resulted in a broken leg. He returned to the only place he knew was safe which was our home. We took him in, made visits to the vet in La Peņita and Bucerias. His leg was too far gone so calcium was given to him daily. Now he is diagnosed with contagious cancerous tumor on (of all places!) his penis. Flacco has just returned from his first treatment of chemotherapy with 3 to 6 more treatments to follow with the Vet in Bucerias. His prognosis is good. In the meantime, he has to be separated from all other animals and everything disinfected daily. He is a Love....faithful, loving, clean, quiet!
People of Jaltemba Bay, interested in organizing and helping some of these animals in need should feel free to contact me. It is so worthwhile and really not too difficult. Just a little time or space in a loving home or perhaps a small donation can do a world of good.
I really appreciate your help.
Un Abrazo,
Lin
