CGS is a small but growing company specializing in natural
resource investigation, assessment and data-based research. Project categories
include ongoing research, water
resource development, environmental
and product development. Approximately
40% of business revenue is grant-driven, while the remaining work is evenly
split among municipal, state and private contracts.
CGS has added a page of suggested reading on
natural resources development.

Water
Resource Development
Municipal Groundwater Development: groundwater and surface water quality
and quantity using a variety of constraints, including distance from source,
reduction of natural contaminant levels through exploration, and maximizing
water quantity using analytical techniques that range from well screen
design to well field design and numerical modeling. Ongoing groundwater
work is occurring in communities such as Kenai, Soldotna and Anchor Point.
Ongoing surface water resource assessment for water supply is occurring
in Port Graham for a fish hatchery expansion. CGS also works with ADEC-Village
Safe Water on rural water resource development projects, most recently
in Voznesenka.
Environmental
CGS provides a number of specialized environmental services. Numerical
modeling services range from contaminant transport modeling (Dillingham,
Alaska) to groundwater extraction effects on surface water resources (Atlantic
City Electric, New Jersey). Many specialized geophysical field surveys
are available, such as electromagnetic (WWII base delineation, City of
Kenai), as well as time domain electromagnetic, surface resistivity, shallow
seismic, Phase I environmental assessments, storm water pollution prevention
(SWPP) plans and other review and assessing services.
Product
Development
Currently CGS is working on turbidity monitoring and water sampling devices
to support CGS research projects for future grants, as well as to provide
additional and unique market area for the business.
