Welcome to "The Pass", as False Pass is called all over southwest Alaska. The Pass also refers to Isanotski Strait on which we live. Thousands of boats of all sizes travel through The Pass each year. Fishing is and has been the basis of our economy since the beginning. We are uniquely located mid-way between the Bering Sea and the Gulf of Alaska on the primary waterway in the entire region. The greatest commercial fisheries in the world are found just north and south of our port. This means that The Pass is an excellent location for all fisheries-related businesses. The City is now in the process of developing the infrastructure to support and encourage the establishment of new businesses.
Please spend some time with us on this website to get to know who we are, what we offer and what the country is like. This website is a small "Cyber-Atlas" of the False Pass area that includes information on every aspect of life here. Everyone from fishermen to businessmen to tourists and mountaineers will find something of interest about False Pass, Unimak Island and the Aleutian Islands on this web site.
We are glad to have you aboard!
