COUNCIL AND DEN LEADERS MEETING NOTES

Those present:  Nicole Robins, Rob Hill, John Rausch, Dawn Hoxie, Lee Walling, Tim Nelson, Steve Browning, Jabiel Cruz

National Registration dues are going up to $10 in January.  For new scouts this September, take $2.40 for national dues and $15 for pack dues.  National dues amount will stay the same if they join in October or November, but the pack dues for October will be $10 and $5 for November.

Popcorn Kernel Training is slated for September 23, 2002 at St. Mary’s Church on Lake Otis/Tudor.  The times are 3pm and 7pm.  Assistant Cubmaster Pat Robins will be taking care of this.  Popcorn sales start October 4, 2002.  Should be able to sell on base.  John Rausch taking care of that.

Decided to keep the den limit to 8 boys.  If more boys join at Round Up, then we will start new dens.  As of now, most dens are at their limit.  Will know for sure after Round Up.

Back to School Open Houses at the base schools are as follows:

Orion  9/19  6-7:30

Mt. Spurr 9/24  6-7:30

Aurora  9/24  6:30-8

On the days that the cub scouts schools have open house, encourage them to wear their shirts only to school that day to spark interest.  We also need den leaders to wear their uniforms and help out at the open house at their respective schools.

For boys to earn their recruiting badge, they need to actively talk to new recruits.  For the new boys joining, Tigers will receive a new Tiger handbook and other new recruits will receive a pinewood derby kit.

Will be having a Parents Night after Round Up slated for 9/26/02 at 7 pm at the Transportation Squadron Building.  Den leaders urged to attend this meeting.  At 8pm, all parents of scouts attend to get the information on the budget for the coming year, popcorn sales and give them the Pack Event Schedule.

Awards will be given out at each Pack Event starting in October. This way they get to wear them longer. A suggestion was made to buy the boys segment patches for the events.  All the boys would earn for participation.  John Rausch will be bringing his son’s vest to show everyone at the Fishing Derby.

Cheryl Hill needs your list for the Summertime Awards.  She will be sending out an email so that you can give her the information.  Also, let her know if  your den qualified for a den summertime ribbon.  Need also to buy new software for the achievements program, since the only copy we have is lost.  Also, ask your parents if their sons have any backordered awards still needing to be awarded.

Next meeting is at 8pm on October 6, 2002, Sunday.  Please let parents know that they are welcomed to this meeting.
