ALASKA ZOO BOOKS -- A series of books for children telling stories about animals at the Alaska Zoo, written and illustrated by Dianne Barske

Dianne has taught art to children for many years.  She has been an art teacher at Anchor Lutheran School and for the Alaska Zoo,  and in the Home Based After School Program.  Her involvement in the community and with children is reflected in her memberships on the boards of directors of Alaska Children’s Services and Access Alaska.

She is past president of Alaska Press Women (now Alaska Professional Communicators), and was named its Communicator of Achievement in 1994.  She has also been the recipient of the Distinguished Alumna Award from Hood College, Frederick, MD and has a master’s degree in English-Education from the University of Wisconsin.

She states, “I love being with children, helping them learn and learning from them, and writing and illustrating children’s books lets me do this.”
