Two Bears There – The Story of Ahpun and Oreo

Two Bears There

Two Bears There is about a polar bear and a brown bear, Ahpun and Oreo, orphaned as cubs in the Alaskan bush and raised together as zoo playmates for five years. From the time they were raised side by side as orphaned cubts, no one was sure if they would bond or battle. The book not only educates readers about the two distinctive bear types, it also demonstrates that these two bears could be good buddies, despite their innate differences. Published in 2003, this book won a statewide award for children’s non-fiction and is now in its second printing.
