The Denali Press was founded in 1986 as a serious imprint publishing works of outstanding cultural and academic importance, in the tradition of fine university press publishing, with a commitment to reference and scholarly works with a strong appeal to the library and institutional market. Though publishing books on a variety of topics, the focus is most broadly centered on multiculturalism and Alaskana.

We are pleased to have sponsored the American Library Association's The Denali Press Award. This annual award was presented (1990-2000) to recognize achievement in creating reference works, outstanding in quality and significance, that provide information specifically about ethnic and minority groups in the United States.
