Cooperative Mailings

The mailing lists described on the verso (which are for sale as either labels or floppy disks, with rights to reproduce) are used several times each year to market our books. We welcome the participation of other publishers in these mailings. Please note that we add & drop lists so it's best to give us a call to verify current information about the list.

Mailings are limited to a maximum of four flyers (including our own pieces.) Each flyer must fit inside a # 10 enve lope. The fee for each piece is the same as the price to buy the labels plus a 25% charge. Basically, you send us the folded flyerwe take care of labeling, stuffing, sealing, sorting, bagging, etc. Payment must accompany space reservation.

Our fee works out to $125-$200/M. The cost to do it yourself would be approximately $400/M. Unlike other publish ers offering coop mailings, we include no more than four pieces. Half of our mailings include only two or three flyers. Since the mailings are conducted to market our books, they take place regardless of the number of participating

publishers. We need no minimum numberthe mailings take place when they are scheduled. Another point to keep in mind is that due to the small number of enclosures our mailings are treated seriously by recipientsmailings with many pieces are often treated as junk mail.

Since 1988 we have conducted our major mailings in September and March, as well as smaller mailings throughout the rest of the year. The participants have included small independent publishers, a self-publisher, university press and literary association drawn from seventeen states throughout the United States. Because we limit participation to between one and three publishers per each list, the available spaces often fill quickly. If interested, please contact us as soon as possible to verify that a particular list will be used and space is available.

If we believe your product is not best served by joining our coop mailing, we'll tell you so. We are strong supporters of independent publishing (our publisher is a member of the COSMEP Board and is a former Dean of Libraries at one of the largest universities in the U.S.) Obviously, we make no guarantees about responses to these mailings. The Denali Press is a full-time publishing house99% of our revenue comes from selling books we publish.

The Denali Press is also the donor of the American Library Association's The Denali Press Award, which is presented annually to recognize achievement in creating reference works, outstanding in quality and significance, that provide information specifically about ethnic and minority groups.
