Kalskag Bible Chapel - 2004
|
|
|
Kalskag is a village that is located on the Kuskokwim
River. The people are mainly Yupik Eskimo and Athabascan.
Church planters, Macarlo Christensen and his wife Darlene,
started mission trips to Kalskag in 1991. During Bible
School, the Lord opened their hearts for the peoples
need of a relationship with Jesus Christ. The Lord began to
impress upon their hearts the need to move to Kalskag to
plant a church. In the late 90s Macarlo heard about
the Covenant Churches in Alaska and began to pursue an
affiliation with the Evangelical Covenant Church of Alaska.
In June 2001, Kalskag Bible Chapel was presented by the
Evangelical Covenant Church Annual Meeting as a new Covenant
church plant. The church was presented with a Frontier
Friends-Kingdom Builders grant to break ground on a building
for the church. Macarlo and Darlene are looking for a
seasoned pastor to step in and minister to this village.
