The birthplace of Covenant ministry in Alaska, Unalakleet lies on the shores of Norton Sound about 165 miles southeast of Nome. Unalakleet is one of the largest villages on the northwest coast of Alaska, located on a spit of land at the mouth of the Unalakleet River, where it spills into the Bering Sea. Lying between the river on one side and the sea on the other, this village shares the riches of both: salmon, trout, herring, seal, walrus, and whale. In the adjacent meadows, and among the rolling green hills and the distant pointed blue mountains, one finds good berry picking, trapping, and hunting, as well as woodcutting for lumber and fuel. Driftwood from the sea supplements the fuel supply.

The church has an active membership of over 50 people and recently called Joel Oyoumick as their pastor. The church chariperson is Clarence Towark. Unalakleet is also the home of Covenant Bible Camp on the North River, about 10 miles from town. Over 250 children from all over western Alaska and Anchorage attend three weeks of camp each summer.
