The Farthest North Girl Scout Council’s Rural Program

As a continued commitment to serving every girl everywhere the Farthest North Girl Scout Council has a specific program to serve the needs of rural Alaskan girls.

The Rural program provides council services to Girl Scouts outside of Fairbanks North Pole region both on and off of the road system. The rural program brings camps and council sponsored events to girls in rural Alaska, while providing training, advancement opportunities and support for women in Girl Scout Leadership positions.

 Rural Youth Advisory Committee

What is the Rural Youth Advisory Committee?

The Rural Youth Advisory Committee or RYAC for short is our teen leadership program.  It is made up of young girls who live in rural Alaskan communities. The teens involved with this leadership program work with the Farthest North Girl Scout Council to find ways to best serve our rural Girl Scouts.  In the Girl Scout Year 2003- 2004 RYAC created and completed a traditional foods badge that is now available in the council shop and online.  In the 2004-2005 year RYAC will be working on a patch program to create a traditional dance patch program and instructional video.

What’s going on in the rural program?
