FEDERAL PUBLIC DEFENDER

DISTRICT OF ALASKA

Welcome to the Federal Public Defender

for the District of Alaska

Our office provides representation throughout the State of Alaska to people charged with federal crimes.  Alaska - “The Great Land” -  has an area of 663,300 square miles. It is larger than the combined area of the 22 smallest U.S. States, and larger than Texas, California, and Montana combined. It is served by seven attorneys working in the Anchorage office.

In addition to the direct representation of appointed clients in federal trial courts, we provide legal services for clients at the appellate and post-conviction (“habeas”) levels. Also, our office administers the appointment and routine training of Criminal Justice Act panel attorneys in the District of Alaska.
