Glen & Kris Denning → Home Improvement → Gas Fireplace < Previous Next >
While preparing the living room for painting, Kris suggested that we re-tile around our existing wood-burning fireplace. I had to agree that it was a good idea. The original tile job was pretty sloppy. The fireplace and tile didn't line up very well, black spray paint was used to cover sloppy grouting, and the tiles were uninspiring 8" white squares.
I naively thought I could just pop the old tile off the drywall and replace it with something a little nicer. Wrong! It soon became apparent that removing the tile meant removing the drywall too.
This project was getting a little more involved.
