This is Kīlauea Lighthouse. It was built in 1913 with a unique Fresnel lens and a clockwork escapement that turned the light. It was converted to electric power in the 1950's, then finally decommissioned in 1976. The Park Service operates the site as a tourist attraction now and there are ongoing efforts to restore the lighthouse. The adjacent cliffs are home to thousands of sea birds that nest and soar along the jagged cliffs.
