Back in Kodiak
Well, I went on a little trip last week to look at and pick up a used school bus (skoolie) up in Tok. Turns out that it was everything I wanted, so I bought it, and now it is sitting outside my home in Kodiak. The trip with the bus was pretty uneventfull, it ran like a champ and it pulls hills like no tomorrow!

There were a couple of other things that happened that might be considered "newsworthy", however....

On Friday, I took my Dad's truck (a '93 F-150) to Xpress Lube on Benson in Anchorage to be serviced. No problem so far until I come out the next morning and find a pool of oil underneath the transfer case!! So I called Xpress Lube and they had me bring it in to look at it. "No problem", I think, "they must have not put the drain in completely or something". No such luck, they cracked the transfer case while changing the fluid. I then took the truck over to a place called A Accurate Transmission, at Xpress Lube's expense. They kept the truck until Tuesday since they had to order a new case cover. When I got it back it acted like it was stuck in four wheel drive. Back to A Accurate Transmission I go on Wednesday morning with my Dad. Mind you, I have ferry reservations for Wednesday night in Homer, and I have to drive the school bus from Palmer. Anyway, after dropping the truck off at the shop, I head out to Palmer to get the bus. Once I pick up the bus, I take off and am on the road to Homer and I had to leave my Dad to deal with the truck problem and inept shop. It turns out the transmission shop did make a mistake (although they aren't saying exactly what) because once they took the transfer case apart and put it back together and back on the truck the four wheel drive works perfectly. Luckily my Dad got the truck back later on Wednesday while I was on the road to Homer.

In Xpress Lube and A Accurate Transmission's defense I must say both owners/managers were very pleasent to deal with and more than willing to make things right. Xpress Lube picked up a rental car for while Dad's truck was at the shop and everything. I did not have to get nasty with either one of them. At this point, I am willing to continue business with either of them in the future.

Anyway, that's about it for recent news here. Take care.
