ANCHORAGE CONVENTION & VISITORS BUREAU (ACVB)
Information Systems Director Nov 1982 Jul 1998
I guided the ACVB through a series of word processors, an IBM System/36, then thru three generations of IBM AS400's culminating in a Model 600 (9402) running TCP/IP over ethernet and acting as a Web server via a leased line connection from GCI. I connected this AS400, with router, 24 port hub, and 16 port Baystack network switch to a LAN served by an IBM 325 computer. The LAN was comprised of seventeen workstations ten IBM diskless network terminals, seven PCs, and three printers. The remainder of the 28 dumb terminals and seven printers were connected via twin-ax cable through a patch panel to the AS400. I personally wired the entire system (I even soldered the majority of the twin-ax connectors used by the terminals & printers).
