April 17, 2009 – a red letter day for our church. That is the day we received our Temporary Certificate of Occupancy for our Family Life Center (FLC). This meant we could start using the FLC, and the first event we held was the “end of the year” party for our AWANA clubbers. Since then Sunday School classes have been meeting there, and our vacation Bible school made effective use of the space. When Valley Baptist Academy opens this year it will have an indoor facility available for indoor recreation and school functions.
However, we want to emphasize the word “temporary” in our certificate of occupancy permit to use the FLC. This means our building is not complete. The major job yet to complete is the kitchen. It is estimated that this will take $50,000 to complete and furnish. We currently have a balance in our building fund of around $4,000.
“PFD Season” is here again. This is a time when all the residents of Alaska share in the bountiful oil riches our Creator endowed Alaska with. We know there are many worthy uses for the money we receive in our “PFD” checks, and we would urge you not to forget making a contribution towards completing our FLC. Pulling together, we will be able to finish the FLC in short order. You all have been so faithful in your giving to this project, as evidenced by what has been accomplished to date. Please give this your prayerful consideration as you consider how to invest your PFD this year. What better investment is there, than one made in the Lord’s work.
May God bless your faithfulness,
The D/C Committee |
