Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)

What is an EOB?

An EOB is an Explanation Of Benefits.  This is the form you receive in the mail as notice of payment for medical expenses that have been claimed on your behalf to any third party payer, including Medicare.  Medicare EOB's are specified as EOMB's, Explanation of Medicare Benefits.

Why does Making $en$e of Your Healthcare Dollar$ include the Healthcare Expense Tracking System©?

The Healthcare Expense Tracking System© contains the "secret" to staying organized, even if organization is not one of your strengths.  Teaching concepts that are complicated, at best, and totally frustrating, at worst, is more effective when offered visually, audibly, and  interactively.

How long does the seminar last?

The workshop time is approximately 3 hours, including breaks.

How does Making $en$e of Your Healthcare Dollar$ work for me?

It provides personalized training that guides you through each step of your medical purchase and subsequent health plan payment.  Because the seminar teaches you to personalize your own Healthcare Expense Tracking System©, you have developed a tool you can use throughout your life, even with the changes that may take place in your individual situation.  In the end, you also have a completed record of each transaction and a yearly recap of expenditures.  You take the Healthcare Expense Tracking System© home and use it after we teach you how to customize it to fit your family's needs.

How do I know it will be worth the cost?

Each medical purchase you make provides the opportunity for you to pay more than you think you should.  After attending Making $en$e of Your Healthcare Dollar$ you may reduce your expenses and will reduce your stress by being educated in the matter.  You then have control of uncovering errors that may and often do occur when medical providers bill you for your healthcare purchases, when your health plan reimburses you for those services, or after the provider reflects the payment received at their billing office.

You know what your financial responsibility will be from your own records, instead of being told by someone else.  That would be much like trusting the bank to reconcile your checkbook every month without your own input.  Medicare beneficiaries and their caregivers can finally understand what that EOMB is trying to say.

What will Making $en$e of Your Healthcare Dollar$ do for me?

It will reduce stress associated with medical expenses, because you will then understand the process and be pro-active with financial management of these expenses.  The greatest need for this may come at a time when you or someone close to you suffers from a catastrophic health need.  At this time, more than ever, you need to be able to manage the paperwork that pours in when you access (purchase) healthcare.  You will be equipped to know the status of your medical expenses with the Healthcare Expense Tracking System©.  The complete glossary provided and "Things to Ask" tutoring during the seminar will prepare you to understand your role in the finances of medicine and how to protect yourself in the process.

What are some other benefits?

Tax time is not the time to try and figure out how much you have actually spent during the year for medical services and how much has been paid on your behalf by third party payers.  By using the Healthcare Expense Tracking System©, at the end of the year you will have a complete picture of all medical expenses, paid by you and by others, to simplify reporting on your tax form.
