Welcome to Dan's Den. This site is dedicated to the beauty and splendor of Alaska. I grew up in Houston TX and joined the military in 1986. Since being in I have been all over the country and the world and I have never seen a place like Alaska. People in the military say they have been all over but I have listed all the states and countries I that I have visited in the scrapbook section. Once when leaving Korea I saw the sun rise and set twice; was in three different Countries; four different states all in one day. The Army is a good organization but its not for everyone. Anyway, I reenlisted to come to Alaska in 1995 and fell in love with it. So much in fact I extended for another three years and have decided to stay here (I'm out of the army now because of my back). If you are an outdoorsman/woman Alaska is the place for you. There is so much untamed wilderness all around. When in Texas we had to drive for 2 or 3 hours to go hunting or fishing. Not here, you can drive for as short as 15 minutes from Fairbanks and you are in " The Wild Frontier "

I like to hunt and fish. I am also into conservation. I believe hunting and fishing are a good thing and we should do everything we can to allow our children and their children the chance to enjoy this age old tradition. I don't believe in hunting or fishing just for the trophy aspect. We eat everything we catch or kill. Well me and the kids do, my wife and mother-in-law have a mental block about eating wild game.

My vision for this page is to give a glimpse of what Alaska has to offer. I have been Caribou hunting in the Brooks Range in northern Alaska, Bear and Moose hunting in the interior, and King Salmon fishing 80 miles North of Anchorage. I have a good friend of mine that I hunt with. We hope to be able to hunt Dall Sheep, Elk, and Black Tail Deer but those are for later down the road.

There are pictures of me and my friends with our King Salmon. My friend and his bear and caribou. Links to some cool bear and hunting sights and maybe even some links to Hunting and Fishing guides. There are some pictures of some really spectacular scenery and pictures taken during the midnight sun. This all will be coming, as somehow we have misplaced some of our photos. We're working on that.
