Frequently Asked Questions1. How do we book a party? Call us at (907) 892-9187 or On-Line. After we have all the details and a $100 deposit, we will confirm your reservation and post it on our Availability Calendar.
2. Is there a deposit? Yes, $100 to secure your date. It becomes your damage deposit, and is normally refunded if there is no damage to the boat and it is left clean and without damage.
3. Can we bring our boat or jet ski along? Yes, we can tag it along. Be sure to have boat fenders to protect your boat from wake damage. We also have optional Dinghy with an outboard motor, and 2 Kayaks available for rent.
4. What is available on the Houseboat? Just about everything: 2 gas Barbecues, Stove, full Bathroom with tub, wood fired Hot Tub, Beer Tap, Galley with Trash Compactor, Refrigerator Micro Wave, Pots & Pans, CD Stereo, Wood Stove, TV & DVD Player, BBQ Utensils, Chairs, Life Jackets, First Aid supplies, 110 volt Generator, Cell Phone plug ins, etc. We also have an optional Dinghy with outboard motor and two single Kayaks available.
5. How do we pay? Credit cards only through Pay Pal on line payments, Personal Check, Business Checks, Cash, Money Orders. Full payment must be received before departure. Make checks out to BLHR and mail to BLHR, P.O. Box 520270, Big Lake, AK 99652.
6. Where do we board the Houseboat? We can arrange to meet you at several locations on the Lake. Sometimes at personal cabins, marinas, or lodges. We are flexible and can work with you.
7. Can we stay overnight? Yes, the houseboat can be used to stay overnight. It can be your floating cabin at the lake. Many visitors use the Comfort as their home base and make daily sightseeing excursions. During the long Alaska summer days there is plenty time to relax or go fishing after a day of sightseeing.
8. Is Alcohol allowed on the Houseboat? Yes, in moderation, we do not condone rowdy, loud parties aboard our houseboat. There will be a Designated Driver on board at all times.
9. What do we need to bring? Food, drink, ice, towels, picnic supplies, extra clothes, bathing suit, camera, CD Music, DVD movies, life jackets for children under age of 13,cell phone.
10. How much does a Houseboat Party or Overnight Stay Cost? It depends on how long you want the boat, if you want the optional Hot Tub, Dinghy with motor, Kayaks, and if you want to stay overnight.
11. Some guests may arrive late; will they "Miss the Boat"? It is important that all guests arrive on time. When you plan your party, let potential stragglers know that you can pick them up at a designated time and place. You may use your boat or our Dinghy (optional) for this purpose. Give them your cell phone number to reach you on the houseboat for pick up.
12. Is the water warm enough for swimming? Yes! We have a swim ladder.
13. What is available at Big Lake? Big Lake has just about everything you would need: Gas Station /Convenience Store, Food Market, Banking, Post Office, Movie Rentals, Laundry, Restaurants, Barbers & Hair Stylist, Pizza Delivery, Hardware Store, Car Repairs...see our Chamber of Commerce site.
14. Is Fed X and UPS delivery available? Yes, we have had guests pre-order Omaha Steaks, New York Key Lime Pies, and all sorts of things to our address prior to their arrival. Just address it to Big Lake Houseboat Rentals, 38 Harbor Rd., Big Lake, AK 99652. Include our phone number 907 232-1276.It will be waiting for you when you arrive!
15. What dates are available for rental? Check our on line Availability Calendar for availability. After we receive your rental deposit we will secure your date on the Availability Calendar
