2002 Ski for Women Super Bowl Sunday is the annual Ski for Women event, which is a fund-raiser for Anchorage's women's shelter. This is a ski event in which only women are allowed to participate, so there are women of all ages skiing (infants strapped to moms up to grandmothers). Many people dress up in costume, to make the event more fun. In 2002, Cheryl's office entered 8 skiers. We were the "Caped Crusaders - Superheroes fighting Domestic Violence." We had Bat Girl, Wonder Woman, Super Girl, Captain America (Cheryl), and Captain Volleyball (Tamara).
I, and two women I work with, completed the 25K Tour of Anchorage on March 3, 2002. We skied 15.5 miles in a few hours. It was a beautiful day in Anchorage, with the temps pushing 32. We skied with hundreds of other skiers, some skiing 40K and 50K that day. This was the first time the three of us had attempted anything like this and we had a blast.
