Our Life in The Last Frontier

Bien venue to my web page!

This is the Jeff's portion of the Campbell web domain.  The Air Force brought us to Alaska, and we've been here since the end of May, 1998.  We decided to leave the AF and stay here in Anchorage.  I'm currently working as a contractor for the FAA.  I'm also a member of the Alaska Air National Guard--I wasn't quite ready to completely leave the military.  Alaska is an incredible place to visit, work, and live.  Everyone should come to Alaska at least once--it's well worth the journey!  Check our Alaska page for pictures of the Great Land.

During our time in the Air Force, we lived in Oklahoma, Florida and Alaska.  In addition, I've been very lucky to be sent on temporary duty (TDY) to many locations around the globe.  Places I've been:  Biloxi, MS; El Paso, TX; Haiti (Operation Uphold Democracy); Fairfax, VA; Fayetteville, NC; Tampa, FL; Boston, MA; Harrisburg, PA; Hampton, VA; Albuquerque, NM; St. Louis, MO; Tuscon, AZ; Montgomery, AL; Honolulu, HI; San Antonio, TX; Brindisi, Italy (Operation DENY FLIGHT); Okinawa, Japan; and the United Arab Emirates (Operation ENDURING FREEDOM).  You get the idea...

I have a few hobbies that occupy my free time (that's an oxymoron if there ever was one):  triathlons, martial arts, and master's swimming.

All my life, I was interested in martial arts.  It was something I talked about, but never followed through.  I was lamenting this to a friend a few years ago, and he gave me some advice.  He said I should set a goal for starting a martial arts program, like saying I'll start before I'm 30.  Well, in the fall of 1998, my 30th birthday was looming in January, and I still hadn't started anything.  Just before my "deadline," I started taking Kuk Sool Won, a traditional Korean martial art.  It was everything I ever hoped for, and I really enjoy studying the art.  Right now, I recently earned my chung-di (blue belt).  It's been an incredible journey so far.

I've also played soccer since high school, and have also coached my daughter's team on different occasions.  I was a fullback/defense all along.  A couple of years ago, I was on a team that suddenly needed a goalkeeper.  I thought it would be fun, so I gave it a try.  Played keeper for the rest of my time on the field.  Unfortunately, my knees fell apart on me while training for an Ironman triathlon, and I ended up needing knee surgery.  I've pretty well given up playing soccer--just too hard on the joints...
