Paula has been with the Juneau School District since the early 90s. A former special education teacher, she now team teaches with JEA Executive Board Member Mike Heiman. Paula's two daughters went through the Juneau School District system. Paula has taught a range of middle school subjects from special education to math to science.

People like Carol carry our association. Carol not only served as 05-06 JEA President, but she agreed to again serve in 07-08 with Paula Janowiec as Co-President. She has served and has been on the District Calendar Committee for 13 years. As before, we owe Carol a great deal of gratitude.

Mindy is new to the Executive Board, but recently helped to represent Alaska at the national Representative Assembly.

Richard and his JEA-member wife Luann McVey and teenage daughters Lydia and Laura returned to Juneau in summer 2005 after two years in Thailand. Richard has been active in JEA since 1996 and has held several posts. He is teaching a new class, news production at JDHS as well as four sections of English. He's enjoying his year as JEA Past President.

Dixie taught and supervised speech-language therapy in Montana until 1988 when she moved to Juneau. She has taught at Harborview, Auke Bay, Mendenhall River, Riverbend, and JDHS. She has been secretary of JEA since the fall of 1995. She served two years on the NEA-Alaska Health Trust.
Treasurer	Kevin Hamrick	Business @ JDHS
Kevin Hamrick has been teaching business and finance at JDHS since 1997. Prior to that he taught in the rural village of Chevak for two years and was an aide at the high school in the early 90's. He has coached wrestling and is currently the assistant coach for football and track. He became active in the Juneau Education Association the first day of his contract and chaired the Negotiations Committee for 1999-2000 and filled in for the President-elect.

Rights Member	Kathleen Wiest	Art Teacher@ Dzantik' i Heeni
Kathleen has a longstanding interest in employee rights. She is an art teacher at Dzantik' i Heeni Middle School and had the good luck to be present at the 2004 Southeast Asia tsunami and return without a scratch!

Deedie Sorensen has served many roles in JEA, from President to her emeritus role (not tongue in cheek) as JEA Historian. She is helpful in many levels of our association and has advocated for and mentored many teachers during her career. Deedie is running for NEA-Alaska President this year.

Kathleen has done a wonderful job as our Health Chair. Kathleen is a knowledgeable source of information about the health plan and how it articulates with any other coverage you may have.

Kelley started her teaching career in Juneau at Riverbend Elementary before taking a position at Mendenhall River School. She served as building rep for Riverbend during her first year of teaching. She and Mindy Barry organized last year's very successful "Seusserific Fun Night" during a blizzard. The place was packed!

Enid is new to the JEA Executive Board. She teaches special education at Juneau-Douglas High School.

Jamie came to Juneau from Gustavus. He and his wife Corrine team teach at Dzantik' i Heeni.
High School Rep at Large	Ulla Pedersen	Special Education @ JDHS	586-3862	7/1/07
Though new as a teacher, Ulla has been a familiar face in the Juneau School District and in the community. She grew up in Douglas.
Middle School Rep at Large	Mike Heiman	Math and Social Studies @ Floyd Dryden Middle School		7/1/07
Mike teaches 7th grade math and social studies and is a coach at Floyd Dryden Middle School. A veteran of the First Gulf War, Mike is a calm head in a busy school. Mike has taught at the elementary, middle and high school levels and served on the bargaining team during our last round of bargaining.

Mary started her teaching career in Juneau at Riverbend Elementary. She's an avid motorcyclist and proud mother of a para athlete..
Elementary Rep at Large	Allie Smith	Grade 1 @ Auke Bay		7/1/07
Allie has taught at Auke Bay for several years and recently became active in JEA when she was elected Elementary Rep at Large in the spring of 2007.
