WELL, AFTER A YEAR, I GUESS IT IS TIME TO UP DATE THIS WEBSITE! It is too darn cold to be doing anything garden-wise outdoors. I sure hope you were able to mark your paths and driveways so that the lawn and garden beds don't get ruined during snow removal It is just a wee bit too early to fill up those feeders, but there is no reason why you shouldn't put them up. You can try feeding them anything you like, but SouthCentral birds go for sunflower seeds. I use hulled seed because the hulls will kill the lawn area under the feeder Get those amaryllis to go dormant. Stop watering and put them in the dark where it is also cool...45 to 50 degrees is ideal. Let the leaves die back. Make sure to listen to "The Garden Party with Jeff Lowenfels" Call is every Saturday from 10-00 am to 12:00, LIVE on Smart Radio AM 700 KBYR. Call in your question. The telephone number to call is: 274-5297 or 1-866-610-5297 Do give me a call.
