My cabin at Lake Creek

These are some pictures of my Cabin near Lake Creek Alaska. I have a nice trail down to the river...about a 20 minute walk. I have solar power with a Honda EU2000 for backup power. I have a 40 ' well, a bathroom (with a shower sink and toilet). I bought my hot water heater on EBay. It is a 6 gallon electronic start heater that is vented to the outside via a controllable vent. When it's -50 F I have to keep the vent closed so the heater doesn't freeze. I  don't make hot water until I need it. I also hand dug a septic system that goes 100' out from the cabin and into a log crib. There is a large barrel stove that keeps the cabin very comfortable year round.

For Ham Radio operations I have a 35 foot vertical on the NW corner of the deck (surplus military) and in the back I have a 160m quad. It took a week to clear enough trees to put it up. It is suspended between 4 trees by pulleys and to counterweights. I also have a dual 11 element 2 m beam at 50' so I can QSO with my XYL NL7EA at our home QTH 90 miles away. My Vertical and Quad are tuned with an SGC-237 (the best tuner ever made). Just in case that isn't enough; I have an adjustable surplus all band dipole and a 20 m vertical. The place can be radioactive. It is all fed by a Kenwood TS-530S.

The oil lamp is courtesy of Nicolai Rikov (my good friend) formally of Anadyr Russia, The Lake has landlocked Silver salmon, Rainbow trout, suckers and sticklebacks. Loons and Trumpeter Swans nest there. The snow will stick on the roof in the winter and be over 2 m deep. We snowmachine out to there in the winters from the Deshka Landing. It takes about 4 hours to get to the place on the Yentna River (just west of Lake Creek) where I go cross country , to the cabin, this last 4 miles takes 4 hours. I have a trip wire electronic bear alarm to discourage the Bears from moving in when I'm not there. A loud siren goes off for 27 seconds and then the system resets itself and sits dormant. It is all visible with Google Earth.
