| Mat-Valley Kitties is a rescue group that is dedicated to stopping the overpopulation of cats and finding the "unwanted, abandoned kitties" a lasting, loving home. We are a network of volunteers dedicated to saving and homing otherwise homeless cats and kittens.
We rescue from local animal control facilities ("pounds"). We also help families that cannot keep a pregnant cat, or kittens due to different circumstances, if we have the room to place them. These kitties are put in foster homes until the right family is found. We try to match personalities with the new family. This is possible due to the fact that the foster home has usually incorporated the animal into their own home as a house pet. Mat Valley Kitties is always in need of additional foster homes, donations of cash and cat-related items, vet services and assistance at adoption days. We also need people willing to help with the 501c3 paperwork, and serve on the Mat Valley Kitty board. Anyone willing to offer assistance should call Mat Valley Kitties Rescue Director Susan Helmericks at 841-7711. For more about volunteering or assisting Mat Valley Kitties, see our How to Help page under "About Mat Valley Kitties." Please note adoption fees are collected for cats and kittens placed by MVK, unless otherwise noted. See our FAQs page for information. |

| Notice of Policies • All kittens adopted through Mat Valley Kitties must be spayed or neutered between 4 and 6 months of age. Proof of altering must be sent to Mat Valley Kitties. This is critical to reduce cat overpopulation. • Mat Valley Kitties cannot guarantee the health of the animals it places. Most kittens and cats have been fostered for a period of observation and any known conditions or ailments would have been treated. We maintain shot records on animals that have been fostered. Prospective adoptive families will be advised of any known conditions. • Some of the kittens are microchipped. It is the adoptive families' responsibility to submit the necessary paperwork. • There is a fee to adopt each of the Mat Valley Kitties. The fee helps cover some of the cost of caring for kitties, some of which need veterinary care. Most need vaccinations, some need medicines and all need food and litter. The adoption fee you pay helps perpetuate this charitable work. Adoption fees are based on age of the feline, type of cat and special circumstances. • If you are unhappy with a Mat Valley Kitties animal, you may return the kitten to Mat Valley Kitties within 10 days for credit toward another animal. No full cash refunds are offered. Those returning an adoptive cat for cash will receive half of the adoption fee. • If for any reason at any time you cannot keep your Mat Valley kitty, you are obligated to contact Mat Valley Kitties. The cat is not to be taken to any publicly run animal control facility. Mat Valley Kitties must be advised before any change in placement. • We reserve the right to refuse to adopt any feline to anyone. Our first concern is the health, safety and contentment of the feline. For more information, see the Mat Valley Kitties Rescue Adoption Policies Page. |
