Rainbow was established by Mark Sexson who was a Past Grand Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star and Past Most Worshipful Grand Master of a Sovereign Masonic Grand Jurisdiction which is the highest office that one can obtain in freemasonry. The degrees in Rainbow were first Exemplified by the South McAlester Chapter #149, O.E.S., in the auditorium of the Scottish Rite Temple in McAlester, Ok. for 171 girls.
The International Order of Rainbow for Girls is sponsored by Masonic Bodies, Order of the Eastern Star and Amaranth. The Juneau Assembly is sponsored by Juneau Chapter #7, Order of the Eastern Star
