Trees & Shrubs

Our trees come from a top of the line farm in Montana where they are field grown. We carefully select the hardiest varieties and care for them in such a way that they’ll take right off in your yard.   

Apple  Malus Parkland 
Very hardy Canadian variety,  same parentage as the Norland. Medium sized red fruit. 

Birch   Betula Pendula, European White
Graceful pendulous tree with peeling silver white bark. Superb ornamental with yellow fall leaves. 
Cottoneaster   Acutifolia, Peking    
Black fruit and red fall color with shiny dark leaves. A shrub growing to 12’ that makes an excellent hedge or screen. 
Dogwood  Cornus Sericea, Red Osier  
Colorful all year round with red bark in the winter. Grows to 10’tall.  
Lilac Syringa Vulgaris
Common Purple   
The ever popular bush growing to 20’ with highly fragrant lilac colored blossoms and attractive green foliage. Makes a good screen. 
Peking Lilac   
A small tree lilac with creamy white flowers densely crowded in large panicles.  Golden bark sometimes exfoliating in rich brown flakes. 
May Day Tree  Prunus Padus, European Bird Cherry  
Very early white flowers in the spring in long clusters. Dark green leaves emerge earlier than most trees. Fall color is an excellent yellow to red. Can grow quite tall.  When it’s May,  you’ll wish there were a couple of these in your yard.
Mountain Ash, Sorbus Aucuparia, European 
Graceful tree to 45’ tall with orange red berries that attract birds in the winter. Highly ornamental and frequently seen around Anchorage.  May the moose not be with you. 
Potentilla  Fruticosa, Bush Cinquefoil  
2-4’ bushes which are loaded with yellow flowers all summer long. 
Rosa Rugosa  Rugosa Rose    
Deep pink to red or white flowers up to 3” on a 6’ tall extremely hardy bush. Makes an excellent hedge. One inch red berries in the fall which have culinary uses. Practically maintenance and moose free.  Grows to 4 to 6 fet tall. 
Rosa Rugosa Alba   White flowers. 
Rosa Rugosa Rubra    Red Flowers. 
Rosa Rubrifolia   Purplish red foliage with single red-pink flowers. 
Rose Tree of China  Prunus Triloba  
Large shrub growing to 10’ tall with single pink or white flowers. Leaves turn a desirable yellow and bronze in the fall. 
Russian Olive  Elaeagnus Angustifolia 
Either a tree or a shrub growing to 25’. It has small aromatic yellow flowers on narrow gray green leaves. A very tough variety which can be used as a windbreak or for landscape. 
Siberian Pea Shrub  Caragana Arborescens    
This shrub has many bright yellow flowers in May. Makes an excellent screen or hedge and can be planted in all conditions. Thought by some to be generally moose proof. 

Spruce  Picea Glauca ‘ Albert’, Alberta    
Narrow compact pyramidal habit which is the western form of the White Spruce.   

Spruce  Picea Pungens Glauca  Colorado Blue Spruce 
Beautiful bluish foliage on popular spruce which adapts well to this area. Goes well 
with winter and Christmas lights. 
Spruce Picea Abies, Norway 
Very fast growth, extremely hardy and wind resistant.
