The Rules

Rules keep us safe, help us to be productive and to allow us to have fun without hurting ourselves, others, or our school. The Student Handbook has all the rules but it may be easier to remember these.

  1. Be a good listener. Follow the directions the first time they are given.
  2. Be safe. Be careful and in control of yourself and your stuff.
  3. Be productive. Do your work and turn it in on time.
  4. Be respectful of other people, their property, and our school.
  5. Be on time, prepared, and ready to work.
  6. Be alert. Special lessons will have special rules to learn.

There are lots of other things we need to do to be successful. I wouldn't call them rules exactly but these guidelines sure help make life easier. Things like:

  • Put your name and date on your papers.
  • Don't push or shove when you get in line.
  • Work together on Team activities.
  • Do your own work when working independently.
  • Keep your desk, floor, and space organized, neat and clean.

There are other things that are not exactly rules or directions that make life good for us all. Some are habits. Some are attitudes. Some just make us better people.

  • Always do your best. Look for ways to do even better.
  • Be generous with forgiveness when someone makes a mistake. We all make mistakes. Holding a grudge just hurts the one holding it.
  • Be honest.
  • Cooperate, work together, and help each other learn.

Be where you are supposed to be.

When you leave the classroom without an adult be sure to get permission and a pass from your teacher. Log the time you go out and the time you return. Find the total time you were gone and log that too. Keep your break to less than 5 minutes.
