In addition, the Petersburg Medical Center is a Critical Assess Hospital, combining acute care, long-term care, outpatient services and home care. Long recognized as a pillar of the community, the Medical Center receives strong community support and has grown over the past 10 years as a result of stable staffing and ever expanding health services.
Physicians receive an excellent salary and benefits including generous retirement , six weeks of combined vacation/CME, and a four-day workweek.
Petersburg is a safe, child-friendly community with excellent schools and recreation facilities including parks, a community gym and a new aquatic center. Outdoor opportunities abound in the breathtaking surroundings of this protected archipelago fringed by towering coastal mountains. Unlike much of “boom and bust” rural Alaska, Petersburg enjoys the continuity and stability of multi-generational and multi-cultural families descended from the original settlers and regional Native Alaskans.
