Home Health
Petersburg Medical Center Home Health is a state licensed; Medicare certified agency providing doctor prescribed skilled services by registered nurses and physical therapists.
Professional nurses provide complete patient assessments, coordinate the personalized care plan, supply teaching and training to caregivers, administer medications and perform skilled procedures and treatments.
Physical therapists assess the home setting for ways to improve safety and patient independence, and they design and teach home exercise programs to patients and their families aimed at helping the patient resume normal living activities after illness or injury.
Patients who qualify for skilled services may also benefit from home health aide visits to provide direct personal care under the supervision of a nurse or physical therapist.
Home health services are covered by Medicare and Medicaid for patients who are homebound, under care of a physician, and require a skilled service. There is usually no cost to patients if they met these criteria. Private insurance companies often use the same guidelines for approving services.
PMC Home Health helps patients remain in the comfort of their own home and encourages patients and families to be active participants in the care process.
